Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group, an affiliate of the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) has been contracted to build two chemical tankers for Sinochem, with an option for an additional two vessels.

State-run Sinochem is said to be China’s largest chemical tanker operator, with a nearly 100-strong fleet. The first two of the 7200 dwt stainless steel newbuilds are scheduled for 2020 delivery. Financial details of the newbuilding contracts were not disclosed.
