Thursday, October 25, 2018

Two 7999dwt chemical tankers building for Swedish shipowner SIRIUS Shipping Group have been christened Saturnus and Mercurius at China’s Avic Dingheng shipyard. Each ice-class 1A vessel, built to BV class, has a length of 119m, a width of 19.4m and a design draught of 7.4m. Engines are equipped with a high-pressure Selective Catalytic Reduction system to meet Tier III emissions requirements. The yard has also cut steel for the 9000dwt stainless steel chemical tanker building for Norway’s Utkilen Group. The 129.5m long, 19.4m wide vessel, built to DNV GL IA-ice class, incorporates a duplex stainless steel pressure tank to prevent corrosion and avoid leakage.
