SAMSUNG ROUNDS OFF 2018 WITH LNG CARRIER ORDERS

South Korean shipbuilder Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) revealed on the last day of 2018 that it had received an order for another LNG carrier.

The contract value is put at around KRW 209 billion. Reports suggest that the ship is destined for an unnamed European owner, with delivery scheduled for 2021.
This was the seventh LNG carrier order announced by SHI in December 2018. SHI's new order total for 2018 stands at 49 vessels worth around US$6.3 billion. This includes 18 LNG carriers, 13 containerships, 15 tankers, and three special purpose ships.
