PAIR OF US SHALE GAS TRANSPORT VESSELS NAMED IN JAPAN

Friday, April 26, 2019

Mitsui OSK Lines (MOL) has named two newbuilding LNG carriers at the Tsu Shipyard of Japan Marine United Corporation (JMU): 'Energy Innovator' and 'Energy Universe'.

The two vessels, of 299.9m length and 165,000m3 capacity, will transport LNG from the Cove Point LNG Project in the United States to Tokyo Gas Co. These vessels are the 10th and 11th LNG carriers that Tokyo LNG Tanker owns and manages. MOL is involved in the management of eight of those ships, including the two newbuildings.

Each ship employs self-supporting prismatic shape IMO Type B cargo tanks, and the main engine used a tri-fuel diesel electric propulsion system, for a speed of 19.5 knots.
