Oman Shipping Company (OMC), the shipping arm of the ASYAD Group, has added a further ultra-large crude carrier to the two 300,000dwt vessels ordered from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME) earlier this year. The new contract is for a similar eco-friendly 336m long and 60m wide tanker.

Since 2008, Oman has placed orders for five large-size crude oil carriers, three of which were secured this year.

According to Clarkson Research, DSME has won seven of its 11 large-scale crude oil carriers in the world this year, which accounts for 64% of its shipments. Last year, it won 16 large-sized crude oil carriers, securing the largest volume in the world.

Meanwhile, Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co., Ltd. (DSME) has awarded 16 ships worth about US $ 2.78 billion, including six LNG carriers, seven super crude oil carriers, and three submarines. End.
