Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Holdings Bhd (MMHE) and EA Technique (M) Bhd have locked horns over a dispute relating to an FSO conversion project.

According to local reports, EA Technique (M) Bhd is seeking US$21.74 million for additional works and costs incurred as a result of the project extension time. MMHE is defending the claim.

“Apart from the arbitration proceeding, MMHE reserves its right to pursue any other legal actions as may be permitted under the Malaysian laws,” it said in a filing with the stock exchange,” MMHE told journalists.

MMHE noted that its wholly owned subsidiary Malaysia Marine and Heavy Engineering Sdn Bhd had received a notice of arbitration from EA Technique for a number of claims in relation to the contract signed in 2015 for the conversion of donor vessel into a floating, storage and offloading facility for the North Malay Basin.
