Greek shipowner Maran Gas has ordered an additional LNG Carrier from South Korean build Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME). The 173,400m3 vessel will be built at DSME’s Geoje Okpo shipyard with delivery scheduled for the first half of 2021.

The LNGC will be powered by a LNG fuel operating ME-GI  engine and operate a full re-liquefaction system (FRS) to increased efficiency and reduce emissions by 30%.

Since 1994, the Angelicoussis Group, of which Maran Gas is a part, has placed orders for 101 vessels with DSME. 16 vessels are currently under construction.

The shipbuilders current orderbook consists of 43 vessels worth some US$6.22 billion. These include 15 LNG carriers, 16 super crude oil carriers, 7 super large containerships and 5 special ships.
