In a contract valued at US$70 million and includes an option for an additional vessel, Hyundai Mipo Dockyard will build a 30,000m3 LNGC for Norway’s Knutsen. The vessel is 180m in length, 28.4m wide and will supply LNG to Sardinia island. The vessel will be fitted out with a dual fuel propulsion system operating from the LNG cargo’s boil off gas and a shaft generator. Interest in small- and mid-sized LNG carriers has increased due to the increase in demand for LNG and the expansion of LNG bunkering infrastructure.
