FLEX LNG is considering buying three next generation LNG Carriers currently under construction at Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering (DSME) and two LNGCs building at Hyundai Samho Heavy Industries.

The MAN MEGI-engined DSME newbuilds are slated for a 2020 delivery, while the WinGD X-DF  powered vessels from the Samho yard are scheduled for delivery the following year.

Vessels will be acquired at a purchase price of US$ 180 million per vessel on a delivered basis, including supervision costs, plus $6 million for each of the DSME ships for the addition of  full reliquefaction systems.

FLEX LNG’s fleet consists of eight modern LNG ships – four existing and four under construction – built at leading Korean shipyards for delivery throughout 2018-2020. All vessels are equipped with MEGI or X-DF engines to reduce fuel consumption and lower boil off rates.
