COCHIN GAINS ORDER FOR BATTERY-POWERED PASSENGER VESSELS

Friday, September 6, 2019

Cochin Shipyard of India has received a Letter of Acceptance from Kochi Metro Rail Corporation Limited for building 20 boats for the Kochi Waterway system.

The boats, with a length of about 24m, will be capable of carrying up to 100 passengers and will be powered  by a battery hybrid system which will offer one hour of operation from a lithium titanium oxide battery pack. The batteries can be recharged at shore stations, at about 15 minutes for a full fast charge, or alternatively by onboard diesel generator sets.
