Ecochlor has opened a new regional office in Korea to increase support of shipyards and owners in their efforts toward ballast water management compliance.

DongJu (DJ) Cho, the new Regional Business Development Manager, has more than 30 years of experience working in the Korean shipbuilding and shipping industry. He has previously worked in various Korean shipyards, followed by senior positions with Wilhelmsen, Hamworthy (Wartsila), Hach & Trojan, OceanSaver and Coldharbour.

Cho said: “I think it’s very important to meet each and every one of my customer’s level of satisfaction. With Ecochlor I can provide my clients with a ballast water management system that decades of proven reliability and easy operation. Finding the best solution for my clients, as well as their positive feedback after the sale, brings me great happiness.”

Ecochlor’s VP Business Development, Andrew Marshall, believes the Ecochlor BWMS is particularly well suited for LNG vessels and with the increase in LNG and other newbuild orders, Korean shipyards will play an important part in Ecochlor’s overall corporate development. Marshall said: “Mr Cho will bring our efforts in Korea to a whole new level as we embrace this phase of our growth as a company. We will be working closely with the Korean shipyards as well as the vessel shipowners and with Mr Cho as our representative in Korea we will be ideally positioned to coordinate and support their ballast water compliance efforts. I look forward to having him as a resource in the area along with the insight of the region that he will bring to our team.”
