BECKER RUDDERS FOR TWO EXPEDITION CRUISE NEWBUILDS

Monday, December 23, 2019

Helsinki Shipyard has ordered twin Becker Heracles Rudder systems for two luxury cruise expedition newbuildings.

The owner, Russia´s largest river cruise company Vodohod, will operate both vessels with ice class PC6 in high latitude areas in Arctic and Antarctic waters. During the Spring and Autumn seasons, the cruise vessels will also operate under tropical conditions.
With such challenging operational parameters, the proven Becker Heracles Rudder (Becker Flap Rudder with Closed Linkage) is claimed to offer guaranteed reliability and manoeuvring performance. The first of the 110m long vessels, each with a passenger capacity of 148 persons, is scheduled for delivery in August 2021, with the second following in January 2022.
