BECKER RUDDER TO ASSIST ENERGY EFFICIENT KRILL TRANSPORT VESSEL

Tuesday, June 18, 2019

Chinese shipyard CIMC Raffles has ordered a Becker Flap Rudder Twisted with rudder bulb for a 168m long support vessel.

The ship has been designed by Wärtsilä Ship Design and under construction for Aker BioMarine. It will carry supply goods and liquids as well as krill products from krill harvesting vessels.

Becker’s highly manoeuvrable rudder system is optimised for efficiency and excellent manoeuvring performance in DP operation, fulfilling and exceeding the requirements of the vessel’s mission profile. The support ship will face challenging weather and operational conditions and has been designed for an environmentally friendly operation in sensitive Antarctic waters. Becker Marine Systems says it is proud to have been chosen as a supplier for this new energy efficient and state-of-the-art vessel.
