BAHAMAS PATROL SHIP COMPLETES REFIT

Wednesday, October 10, 2018

The Royal Bahamas Defence Force patrol ship ‘HMBS Bahamas’ is returning to her home port of Coral Harbour Base, New Providence, after a 20-month refit docking in the Netherlands.

The ship was built in the USA in 1999, and began her first major refit at Bradford Marine in Freeport, Grand Bahama, and transferred to the Maaskant Shipyard in Stellendam for completion of the work. The refit encompassed the machinery, bridge and various other equipment. Three Dutch advisors will be accompanying the captain, Commander Gregory Brown of the RBDF and his 31 crew on the trans-Atlantic voyage, which includes a call at Funchal, Madieira.
